As one of the sponsors of the event, Dorsch Gruppe participated in the 15th German-African Energy Forum, hosted by the German African Business Association in Hamburg on June 01 and 02. Under the theme "Turning Tables and Breaking Habits: Energy Transition through Africa's lens", government representatives, private sector and industry experts discussed energy solutions, challenges and action points in the context of climate change, local value addition, innovation and transformation.
Tanja Baur, CEO International Cooperation, discussed with private sector and public authorities on how energy could be the missing link for Africa's economic growth. She emphasised the need for a just transition, underlining that securing access to energy within the African continent and climate action requires just as much prioritisation as energy export strategies. To this end, Dorsch Gruppe sees key potential in the areas of infrastructure, urbanisation, NEXUS topics (Water-Energy, Water-Energy-Food Security, Mobility-Energy), as well as cross-sector Capacity Building to foster and leverage access to energy in Africa.
Particularly in context of the need to transfer exisiting financing commitments into business cases and projects being implemented, we are looking forward to valuable insights arising from the UN Climate Change Conference taking place in Egypt, Sharm el Sheikh in November 2022.
