The Dorsch International Wiesbaden team around Reinhold Weis in collaboration with SchenkelShultz Architecture Orlando have been awarded with the
"Citation of Excellence Award 2013"
by the U.S. magazine "Learning by Design" which is issued by the following American Association of Architects:
The American Institute of Architects (AIA), the APPA Leadership in Educational Facilities, the Council of Educational Facility Planners International (CEFPI), the National School Boards Association and the National Clearing House for Educational Facilities.
Learning by Design is the leading source for the design of learning facilities and innovative excellence. This prestigious magazine issued twice a year provides a platform for the country's outstanding architectural offices by publishing special projects concerning all levels of education from preschool to 12th grade as well as college and university projects.
The joint effort of various interest groups was necessary for this price-awarded school construction. The project team is comprised of a long list of organizations such as: the DoDEA Center, the Department of Defense Dependents Schools Europe, the USACE Europe and Norfolk Districts, the German Building Authorities, SchenkelShultz, the Dorsch Group, Garrison Kaiserslautern and the High School Kaiserslautern. It was a large but productive team, said Tammy Cinnamon, project leader of USACE Europe District.
After the completion of the "Advanced Schematic Design" which was prepared by SchenkelShultz in close collaboration with Dorsch International Consultants, the updating of the design since then rests solely in the hands of Dorsch Wiesbaden, still in very close collaboration with the above-mentioned involved institutions, of course.
SchenkelShultz Architects' experience in terms of the basic development of U.S. school buildings of the 21st century and Dorsch's know-how regarding the further design and construction of U.S. large-scale projects result in an excellent total package - a result which encourages successful collaboration in other projects.
