In April 2013, a joint venture led by Dorsch International Consultants GmbH closed a contract with the Regional Water Company of Prishtina (KUR Prishtina) for the provision of consulting services. Due to its fast growth in population, Prishtina, the capital city of the Republic of Kosovo, has been suffering from water shortages and from insufficient water quality.
The project will address these problems through the construction of new raw water transport facilities and the construction of a new water treatment plant. KUR Prishtina is providing its services to about 560,000 inhabitants in the capital of Prishtina (approx. 350,000 inhabitants) and in the surroundings.
The services provided by Dorsch will comprise the review of existing studies, the preparation of designs and tender documents, assistance to the client in tendering and contracting as well as the supervision of construction works.
The project which forms a part of the German Financial Cooperation with the Republic of Kosovo is financed through a KfW-loan. It will be implemented between 2013 and 2017.
