The election of Olaf Hoffmann, who previously served as Vice President of Ghorfa for 12 years, took place during the 27th Arab-German Business Forum held in Berlin from 3 to 5 June. "I was very pleased to see the great support and confidence of all Ghorfa members, ambassadors and chambers of Arab countries. I found the very optimistic mood regarding the Arab-German economic outlook during the 27th Arab-German Business Forum particularly positive," said Olaf Hoffmann upon his election. He succeeds Dr Thomas Bach and, most recently, Dr Peter Ramsauer, former Federal Minister, who has been president of the Ghorfa since 2014.
Around 350 German and Arab entrepreneurs as well as representatives of embassies and organizations took part in this year's Arab-German Business Forum, the most important platform for German-Arab business cooperation. Eight panel discussions with more than 60 speakers as well as six round table events characterized the event's wide range of topics. Ghorfa sees itself as the representative of all Arab chambers of industry and commerce in the Federal Republic of Germany and promotes cooperation between the Arab countries and Germany in the areas of trade, industry, finance and investment as well as international understanding. "Participating in this dialog, this understanding and developing it further is a particular concern of mine," says Hoffmann.
