Rehabilitation of Hamburg Airport "Helmut Schmidt" completed

From February 2016 to September 2020, the overall reconstruction of Apron 1 (VF1) at Hamburg Airport was carried out by DI by providing site management and construction supervision services.

In the course of this reconstruction, the parking positions were partly rearranged and the taxiways Z1, Z3 and Z5 were built as triple-lane taxiways. In addition to the existing taxiways, two new taxiways to runways 05/23 and 15/33 were constructed.

In the process, around 320,000 m² of surface area was completely renewed with around 500,000 m³ of earth movements, 150,000 m³ of concrete/HGT and around 140,000 t of asphalt.

The construction costs came to about € 70 million net, the total cost of the project was about € 120 million net.

DI's range of work, in addition to construction supervision and site management, included plan reviews of the implementation planning, coordination of construction/aviation, special measures for the G20 summit in 2017, detailed cost allocations for FHG's fixed asset accounting, and weekly notification of requirements for LSKK for construction in the aviation security area.
