The book was released in the course of the 14th German-Arab Business Forum, which took place in Berlin. More than 30 companies and enterprises present a selection of their construction and consulting projects which stand exemplary for the current developments in the 22 Arab countries.
A novelty in the current edition is that projects are presented which have been realized by Arab architects, planners or engineers in Germany. International consulting companies, plant constructors and architecture offices as well as the Development Bank KfW and the GIZ are amongst the participating companies and organizations. The Federal Minister of Traffic, Construction and Urban Development Dr. Peter Ramsauer points out in his foreword that German enterprises with “their advanced technologies, comprehensive special know-how, experience in the service sector and specific market knowledge are ideally suited to assist the Arab course of change and modernization”.
Olaf Hoffmann, CEO of Dorsch Gruppe and member of the Board of Directors Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, sees great potential in the Arab region after the times of challenging economics too: “Arab countries remain the biggest construction sites in the world. With many mayor projects in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait our industry is satisfying the growing demands of a continuously growing population. Without exception, the less dynamic countries will in the future invest enormously in their logistics, roads and railroads, ports, airport, energy, communication and urban extension, too. Supported by the desire for higher, western standards”.
The yearbook proves impressively the collaborations between Germany and the Arab countries in the different fields of constructing and consulting are successfully already. Dr. Thomas Bach, President of the Ghorfa, and Abdulaziz Al-Mikhlafi, Secretary General, reveal in their joint foreword Arab countries are considering German companies as credible partners and are inviting them to participate in the continuing economic growth.
