GRE German Rail Engineering GmbH has been commissioned by Regionalverkehr Münsterland GmbH (RVM) to plan the reactivation of regional passenger transport on the Tecklenburg North Railway. On the approx. 24 km long single-track line between Osnabrück and Recke, rail passengers are to travel at up to 100 km/h every 30 minutes in the future. To achieve this, the construction of overtaking facilities, line improvements and the technical securing of more than 50 level crossings are necessary on some sections.
As part of an on-site inspection, the line between the municipality of Lotte and the municipality of Recke was surveilled on a Railbike by planning experts and project managers from the contractor and client sides. Three draisines were provided by Railbike Adventure Tours and could each transport 2 persons plus luggage with muscle power & speeds of up to 30 km/h.
The planning experts with a focus on traffic facilities / level crossings and structural engineering were thus able to obtain a comprehensive picture of the entire route in an enormously time-effective manner. Regular stops at important points and a video recording of the entire journey ensure permanent added value for the project. In the course of the further planning for the reactivation of the Tecklenburg northern railway, consideration is already being given to repeating the inspection with other specialist planners if necessary.
