On 24th August 2012, Dorsch Consult Asia, as a member of the Project Management Consultant, witnessed Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra pushing the start button for the first tunnel boring machine on the Project.
This diameter 6.44m Earth Pressure Balanced TBM will drive 2 tunnels, each approximately 2,350 m, through sensitive alluvial settlements below the historic Rattanakosin district and China Town connecting the existing Hua Lamphong Station with new Stations Wat Mongkon, Wang Burapha to Sanam Chai Station, located near the Grand Palace and next to Wat Pho, hosting the Reclining Buddha.
