Description

The Basrah – Al Fao railway link as part of the planned infrastructure network of the Master Plan shall connect Basrah, the industrial and cultural centre of South Iraq, with the planned deep water port on Al Fao peninsula to facilitate international trade. It is expected, that the new railway link will improve commodities and passenger flows to a faster, more competitive and more secure access to the national and international markets.

The project also includes 5 stations:

  • Al Zubair (km 0+000)
  • Abu Khasib (km 28+000
  • Sieba (km 52+500)
  • Station 3 (km 76+000)
  • Al Fao (km 100+000).
