Description
By the time the Terminal 2 and Apron East, both currently in the design stage, are opened to traffic in early 2003 the apron positions will already be at the limit of their capacity. With a maximum design capacity of 75 aircraft positions at the new terminal it is therefore intended to channel transfer passengers through a first satellite.
The purpose of the conceptual design study was as follows:
- Elaboration of a location for the first of several satellites by means of investigating various development scenarios
- Analysis of direct consequences of preferred location of first satellite for airport installations which already exist in area of Apron East as well as for ongoing design of the Terminal 2/Apron East complex
- Consideration of incorporating upstream apron baggage hall into extended Apron East as well as of integration of same into first satellite
